Foreign Ministry thanked Jordanian authorities especially tourism ministry and costumes department over seizing and handing over 340 artifacts that date back to various eras of the Ancient Egyptian Civilization.
In statements on Monday, Assistant Foreign Minister for Cultural Relations Ambassadress Iman el Far said this comes after a cooperation agreement signed between Egypt and Jordan in protecting and recovering smuggled cultural property and combating illicit trafficking in antiquities.
In December, 2015, Jordan costumes authorities seized the Egyptian artifacts in an attempt to smuggle them at the Egyptian-Jordanian border.
On December 20, Egyptian Ambassador in Amman received the artifacts from the Jordanian tourism minister while the Egyptian antiquities ministry received the artifacts on Sunday, Far further said.
