Mufti of the Republic Shawky Allam on Tuesday urged conducting a thorough study for the reasons behind the spread of the phenomenon of extremism and joining terrorist groups by European young people.
At a meeting with a visiting delegation of the Belgian Foreign Ministry, he added that the study will help address the problem in a practical and scientific way.
He pointed out that handling the problem of extremism should be undertaken from two perspectives; namely protecting young people against hardline thinking and rehabilitating those who joined terrorist groups such as Daesh in a bid to rectify their thought.
He further underlined the necessity of not associating terrorism with Islam because some perverted Muslims have steered away from the true Islamic moderate teachings.
Darul Iftaa (House of giving religious opinion) has set up an internet website in Arabic and English to handle the problem through disseminating the true teachings of Islam and correcting wrong Islamic concepts, he added.
Meanwhile, the visiting chief delegate lauded efforts exerted by Darul Iftaa in fighting terrorism and extremism through rectifying wrong religious concepts.
