The Egyptian authorities at the airport stopped Abdel Moneim Kamel, chairman of the National Culture Centre (of the Cairo Opera House) from boarding a flight to Germany on Thursday morning, according to Al-Ahram's office at the Cairo International Airport. A travel ban was issued by the General Prosecutor against Kamel a few weeks ago as they look into allegations of financial misappropriation at the Opera House. Kamel was chairman from 2004 until February 2012. As he was getting ready to board the 10am flight to Munich, the airport personnel noticed the issue and took the necessary procedures, such as removing his checked-in luggage from the plane and removing him from the airport under security supervision.
