
German President Joachim Gauck greeted Muslims on the occasion of Eidul Fitr (Lesser Bairam), hoping a happy feast for them.
In his greeting message to the Muslims on Thursday, Gauck called for more confidence between religions, adding that the world can achieve a bright future by respecting each other.
For his part, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent a greeting cable to Muslims which was published on the website of the Foreign Ministry.
In the cable, Steinmeier said that the holy fasting month of Ramadan urges people to adopt tolerance and mercy in their behavior.
He also hoped a happy feast for all Muslims.
