His Majesty King Abdullah inaugurated the Prophet Ayoub Shrine Mosque in Batna town in Balqa Governorate, some 35km northeast of Amman, on Friday.
His Majesty and HRH Crown Prince Hussein performed the Friday prayer along with several Royal family members and senior officials in the 2,700-square-metre mosque, which is part of the projects of the Royal committee for restoring mosques and shrines of prophets, Prophet Mohammad's companions and martyrs.
The mosque is next to a hill where Prophet Ayoub is believed to have lived.
The Department of Antiquities, in cooperation with the Awqaf Ministry, is planning to start restoration work on the remains of the prophet's residence soon.
