Kuwait's "Journey of Hope" boat on Sunday arrived in Salalah on its way back home following a worldwide tour aimed at conveying a social and humanitarian message regarding mentally-disabled people.
On arrival in Salalah, the humanitarian expedition was welcomed by Kuwait Embassy's Charge D'affaires Jasem Abu Marzouq and embassy staff.
Abu Marzouq, in remarks to KUNA, hailed the warm hospitality extended to the Kuwaiti activists upon arrival.
The "Journey of Hope" has conveyed the aspired message, confirming the ability of people suffering mental disabilities to participate effectively in the society, just like healthy ones, he added.
The Kuwaiti sea expedition had gotten underway in Kuwait in early May, passing through 20 countries and 39 ports.
Over 22 celebratory events were held at intervals in all ports en route with a view to unifying people of all cultures and religions towards a collective effort to care for and benefit those with intellectual disability everywhere.
The idea of the worldwide journey was the brainchild of a number of Kuwaiti parents with children having mental disabilities including the Down Syndrome and Autism. The parents wanted to bring awareness to the plight of these children and life's restrictions on them.
