Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong met with Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin here on Friday, and both sides said they will work together to enhance cultural exchanges. "Beijing and Taipei have lots of good experiences to share with each other in terms of city management and cultural exchanges," Guo said, adding that the room for future cooperation is great. Guo told Hau that he was impressed by the orderly management of the traffic in Taipei, hoping the two cities will maintain the friendly environment for development. "Beijing is famed for its rich and solid culture atmosphere while Taipei for its diverse culture, and both cities are representative of traditional Chinese culture," Hau said. Accompanied by officials from their respective municipal administration, the two mayors inspected a cultural park in Taipei and visited an exhibition featuring intangible cultural heritage from Beijing. Guo also visited Taipei's Palace Museum on Friday. Guo, who is also deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China Beijing Municipal Committee, first met Kuomintang(KMT) Honorary Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung at the Grand Hotel upon arriving in Taipei Thursday. Leading a delegation of more than 20 high-ranking officials, scholars and artists, Guo is visiting the island at the invitation of the KMT central committee. He is the mainland's first high-level local official to visit Taiwan this year.
