Two Moroccan human rights organisations have demanded Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane criminalise all forms of normalisation with Israel. It also called on him to prevent the screening of Israeli films, as well as not to honour director Ami Levin. The Moroccan Association for Supporting the Palestinian Struggle, and the National Working Group for Supporting Iraq and Palestine said in a statement that those who wanted to stabilise ties with Israel wanted to spread "Zionist cancer" in Morocco. The statement said that the new initiative of honouring Israeli directors was worse, where once cinema smuggled tapes to screen the movies in Moorcco. The statement said that the initiative constituted a "new Zionist challenge" and an unprecedented step of the "servants of the Zionist project in Morocco". It also called on Moroccan people and civil society associations to campaign against the acts.
