Head of Egypt’s National Library and Archives (NLA), Zein Abdel-Hadi, said that the library is contacting the family of Anwar El-Sadat, the late president of Egypt, to get their permission to establish a gallery of the late president’s posessions at the library’s old headquarters in Bab Al-Khalq, Cairo. Abdel-Hadi said that work on the gallery will start over the next two months, and the inauguration would be after they get permission from Sadat’s family to put his collections on display. Abdel-Hadi said that the last gallery, which displayed collections from former president Gamal Abdel-Nasser, at the Library last month attracted more than three thousand visitors in just two weeks. He confirmed that the Nasser gallery will be perrmanently open be at the Baladeyat Library in Alexandria. Abdel-Hadi also said that the Library also plans to establish a new research centre on Egyptian parliamentary affairs.
