Police foil bid to loot 16 mummies in Aswan

Tourism police foiled on Thursday a bid by a gang to loot 16 mummies and four ancient coffins from a cemetery in Aswan.
During a campaign on suspected gang members, the security forces arrested scores of people and seized the tools they used in the excavations.
Guards were deployed in the cemeteries in the area and a specialized committee was formed to receive the seized items.
