
HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari Friday opened at Qatar Photographic Society (QPS) premises in KATARA the Georgia and its Neighbors photography exhibition, in presence of Ambassador of Georgia to Qatar Ekaterine Meiering-Mikadze in addition to a number of diplomats and QPS members .
The exhibition, which was held within activities of the holy month of Ramadan in cooperation with the Embassy of Georgia in Doha, features 66 pictures by Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky, a photographer who lived in the twentieth century. The photographs are picturing the social life , economic conditions, buildings and beautiful shapes in the Georgia during the period 1905 to 1915.
HE Dr. Al-Kuwari praised Qatar Photographic Society's role in presenting friendly countries through these exhibitions, saying activities of summer season will start immediately after Ramadan and will continue through the end of September.
QPS Vice President, Abdurrahman Al-Obeidan, said that the preparation for the exhibition took about six months, referring that Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky was selected as the main event by the Georgian embassy and Library of Congres.
