
An operation to restore all Aboriginal cultural property affected during the recent events in M'Zab Valley (site listed world heritage) will shortly start, the province's Directorate of culture announced. This operation will include the headquarters of the Office for the Protection and Promotion of the M'Zab valley (OPVM), the real estate and ancestral cultural property affected during these events, mainly a dozen funeral monuments and prayer spaces in the Ksar of Ghardaia well as Mahdrates (Koranic schools for children), the Director of culture, Brahim Baba Addoun said. Funded by the government, this operation will be preceded by an action of detailed and comprehensive diagnosis of places and sites by experts in preservation and restoration of cultural and architectural heritage in accordance with the Heritage law 04/98 dated on, 15 July 1998, he stressed. In fact, this operation aims at giving back these cultural treasures of yesteryear their values ??to ensure that they contribute to local economic development, particularly in the field of tourism and crafts, the director of culture added. Among the places affected by the events of Ghardaia, there is the cemetery "Ami Said El Djerbi" dating from the year 15000, the headquarters of the council of Ami Said, the highest religious authority of the Ibadi rite, the mausoleum of Ami Moussa, the cemeteries of Baba Baba Aissa Oulawan and Oudjema, In addition to mausoleums of the first founders of the Ksar.
