Russia's Ambassador to Kuwait Alexey Solomatin praised his country's relations with Kuwait, which date back over half a century ago, noting that Kuwait was the first Gulf state to establish relations with the former Soviet Union (USSR).
Ambassador Solomatin's remarks came during a press statement Tuesday on the sidelines of a promotion of an upcoming Russian children show, "Moskova," set to be held on December 14th at Salmiya Theatre.
Kuwait and Russia have benefited from their bilateral relations, the Russian diplomat said, adding that the two countries have always strived towards finding a common ground for a dialogue on all pending issues in the region.
The Kuwaiti people's positive reception and feedback on Russian arts galleries and shows prove popularity of the Russian culture in Kuwait and Arab countries in general, he noted, adding that the upcoming children show will be held in cooperation with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL).
"Moskova" is one of the most popular and professional Russian shows as it consists of various Russian classic and modern dances, Ambassador Solomatin said, affirming the embassy strive to cooperate with NCCAL in holding further Russian cultural events in Kuwait.
"We are not only trying to bring the Russian culture to Kuwait, but we are also seeking to bring the Kuwaiti culture to Russia as well," he said, adding that several prominent and significant Kuwaiti figures have been recently invited to visit the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia on the occasion of its 250th anniversary celebration.
Among the invited figures; Sheikha Hussah Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Director General of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah (DAI), and NCCL's Secretary-General Dr. Ali Al-Youha, said the Russian diplomat.
