Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari attended along with winner of the Second Annual Dhow Festival the closing ceremony at Katara’s Esplanade that was held today under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani. HE Al Kuwari awarded the winners and participants in the Festival in the presence of Chairman of the Cultural Village “Katara” Abdul Rahman Al Khulaifi and a number of officials from the Ministry of Culture. Showcasing over 100 Dhows, from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Oman the only Dhow Festival in the region included various traditional activities such as performances by renowned regional bands, dhow cruises, fireworks, live dhow building, a light show, the pearl diving competition, children’s workshops, and museum displays from galleries from across the Gulf.
