
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting Tuesday with Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church Abune Mathias.
The meeting took up relations between Egypt and Ethiopia and the signing of Declaration of Principles on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, presidential spokesman Alaa Yusuf said.
Sisi stressed urgency of need to boost the spirit of friendship between both countries.
During the meeting, the Ethiopian Patriarch reiterated importance of historic relations linking Egypt with Ethiopia, highlighting Egypt's keenness to begin a new era of good relations with Ethiopia.
The Patriarch noted fruitful meetings he held with Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church's Pope Tawadros II and Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb.
Also, he called for more cooperation between Egypt and Ethiopia urging concerting efforts to address terrorism phenomena in the region, the spokesman added.
