The theatrical season will be launched tonight 08 pm at the National Theatre, Omdurman. The launching will be attended by the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Ahmed Bilal, Wali of Khartoum State Dr. Abd al-Rahman al-Khidir and the State's Minister of Culture Mohamed Yousif al-Digair. Director of National Theatre Sideeg Salih told SUNA that this season is organized in partnership with the federal Ministry of Culture and Information. He explained that Khartoum State has announced sponsorship for this season, exemption of theatres rent fees and allocation of their revenues for supporting the stage actors. The season will open with Mustafa Ahmed al-Khalifa's play Farga wa Magdoda (Empty and perforated), starring Mohamed al-Mahadi al-Fadni and others. Al-Khalifa is the president of the pioneering theatrical group "Al-Asdigaa (Friends)", he was elected as the Person of the 12th Bougaa (Omdurman name during the Mahadism era) International Theatrical Festival last year in recognition of his distinctive work. Established in 1958, the National Theatre used to organize regular seasons from 1968 until the mid eighties, the shows then stumbled due to some factors including taxes.
