A unit has been established at the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) in a bid to promote the culture of equal opportunities. The move followed an edict issued Tamkeen Board Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari hailed the initiative which aims at integrating women’s development needs in all sectors. "The establishment of the panel is line with the edict of the Civil Service Bureau to set up similar units in Government enterprises and departments", she said.
She stressed the importance of the unit in promoting gender equality in appointments, trainings, scholarships and promotions. She extended thanks to Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al-Khalifa for backing the establishment of the unit, calling on all government departments to follow suit and set up similar panels in compliance with the CSB edict which was issued last April.
