The Prado Museum has created a high-definition virtual gallery dedicated to Francisco Goya, exhibiting more than 150 paintings and 600 drawings by the great master that are not usually on display in the museum, curators said at the new site's press launch on Tuesday. "It's like a museum within the museum, and of course it is our obsession", Prado Director Miguel Zugaza told reporters. Besides the paintings and drawings, the virtual gallery, called Goya en el Prado (www.museodelprado.es/goya-en-el-prado) also exhibits prints and documents relative to the life of the master, as well as an extensive bibliography of all the latest research on the Aragonese painter, which will be available online for the first time. Thanks to the digital revolution, said Zugaza, "the Prado has been able to achieve one of its prime objectives, which is to disseminate its collections". Last year 3 million people visited the Madrid museum.
