The new archaeological site of the Roman Domus, discovered through archaeological excavations in the basement of Palazzo Valentini, enriches the guided tours all along the art heritage path of Rome of other twenty minutes with stations located along a three hundred square metres path, to enjoy a walk among the remains on suspended glass pavings at a depth of four metres. The voiceover is unmistakably Piero Angela, who acts as a cicerone throughout the visit along the underground path within the eighteenth century rooms, which have been unearthed during the last year and a half. The renovation was carried out in recent years with an ambitious project handled entirely by art historians, archaeologists and architects, obtaining results of great significance due to the importance of this area in Roman times and because the remains allow to reconstruct an important part of the ancient and medieval topography of the city of Rome. The picturesque route goes through the remains of the Patrician "Domus" of imperial age, belonging to powerful families of that era, perhaps senators, frescoed with mosaics, decorated walls, polychrome floors, pavements and other artifacts. It is supported and enhanced by Piero Angela and a team of technicians and experts, such as Paco Lanciano and Gaetano Capasso, who gave new life to the evidences of the the past through virtual reconstructions, lighting and sound effects, and projections.
