Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Bahrain (TRA) in cooperation with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) plans to hold a workshop in the Kingdom of Bahrain on the essential subject of Online Child Protection.
Safeguarding impressionable youths is a primary concern that has global reach and cannot be taken lightly.
The case is just as true for youths that frequently use the internet. The legal technical and institutional challenges posed by the issue of cyber security will take an international effort to address.
By taking into account the role of different stakeholders and existing initiatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain, TRA believes that a consolidated effort will combat these challenges on a national scale, and is a step in the right direction towards a safer online environment.
TRA Director of Cyber Security, Dr. Khalid Bin Duaij Al Khalifa was quoted in saying "This workshop aims to bring together partners from all sectors of the local and global community to aid in ensuring a safe and secure online experience for children." He continued in saying "This workshop aims to achieve this goal by adopting a holistic approach which covers legal, technical, organizational and procedural matters as well as capacity building and international cooperation on this issue."
The Child Online Safety Workshop has been developed to facilitate child online safety discussions and to raise awareness on this important subject in order to better prepare all stakeholders for the challenges facing child online protection on a local and global level. The workshop will be held in the Ritz Carlton from the 14th to the 16th of September.
