The Transhumance and Goat Herdsman Day, is a holiday that attracts hundreds of visitors with its unique features, as herdsmen walk through city with their animals being dismissed by community leaving to summer grazing in range sectors. The holiday was decreed in 2011 by Illapel's Mayor, Denis Cortes Vargas, aiming to recognize the importance of the herdsman job to local identity and has call for the attention mainly among heritage activity enthusiasts, according to local press.
