
Interim Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa has decided that the state bears the costs of medical care of Tunisian artist Abdelmajid Lakhal, Prime Minister's adviser in charge of information and communication Mofdi M'seddi told TAP on Saturday.
M'seddi added that Mehdi Jomaa on Friday asked Minister of Culture Mourad Sakli to go to the bedside of the artist to inquire about his health.
The film, theatre and TV actor, who is in critical condition, was admitted to the intensive care unit in Abderrahmane Memi Hospital in Ariana and earlier to the Rabta Hospital after the deterioration of his health.
Abdelmajid Lakhal, who is a famous playwright in Tunisia, directed several plays and performed leading roles in several Tunisian and foreign films and in television series.
He also won several awards and prizes including the Best Actor Prize at the Arab Festival for Radio and Television in 1983.
