UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova on Wednesday received Egypt's Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh el-Damaty on Paris to discuss promoting cooperation between the international organization and Egypt.
The meeting tackled a raft of issues, mainly UNESCO efforts in protecting and preserving the heritage sites in Egypt, as well as efforts to support Egyptian museums, said Egypt's permanent envoy to UNESCO Mohamed Sameh Amr.
Bokova, for her part, expressed support for the Egyptian government's efforts in all fields related to UNESCO scope of work.
Damaty also had meetings with a number of international antiquities-related officials, including President of the International Council of Museums, Amr added.
On Tuesday, Damaty left Cairo for Paris to participate in an international seminar on the Egyptian museums.
