
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit held talks on Thursday with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari on the latest developments in Iraq and the Arab region.
The meeting also took up a number of issues on the Arab League's agenda, the pan-Arab organization said in a statement.
The top Iraqi diplomat reviewed the most important recent developments in Iraq, especially with regard to the efforts exerted by Iraq to combat Daesh terrorist group, added the statement.
Abul Gheit asserted his support for Iraqi government and people in the efforts aiming to end the danger posed by Daesh and other terrorist and extremist groups.
Commenting on ongoing military operations to liberate Mosul, noted the statement, Abul Gheit wished success for the operations, in a way that would maintain Iraq's security, stability and unity.
