
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit had talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the fringe of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In a press release on Wednesday, the AL chief spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said the talks tackled the latest regional developments, especially the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis.
They also discussed means of developing the Arab-Russian dialogue in fields of mutual concern, Afifi said.
Afifi added that the two sides agreed on the importance of giving momentum to the Arab-Russian ministerial dialogue meeting due to be hosted by the UAE in the first three months of 2017.
The talks touched on means of enhancing Arab-Russian cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural domains.
