Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit had talks on Wednesday with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the fringe of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In a press release, the AL chief spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments in the Palestinian cause as well as the crises of Syria, Libya and Yemen.
The two sides agreed on the importance of drumming up efforts to settle these crises in view of their wide-scale repercussions at the security and humanitarian levels, Afifi said.
The talks also tackled the phenomenon of spiraling terror as well as the unprecedented influx of refugees and immigrants to Europe.
The two sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the AL and the European Union, he said.
They called for drawing up a comprehensive agenda for the Arab-European ministerial meeting to be held by the end of this year.
