
The Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit met on Sunday with Pierre Vimont, the French special envoy for Middle East peace, with talks touching on French efforts to hold the proposed international conference for peace in the Middle East.
Ambassador Hossam Zaki, the Arab League's assistant secretary general, said the French envoy reviewed his efforts to prepare for the conference that France proposed for the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis.
Speaking after the meeting, Zaki the French envoy made visits to several world capitals for this purpose and presented a report to the secretary general on his contacts.
The secretary general and the envoy discussed a number of ideas on the developments of the French initiative, stressing that the Arab League is in touch with the French side regarding these efforts, Zaki said.
