
Assistant Foreign Minister for Office Affairs Hisham Seif el Deen met at his office Thursday Italian Ambassador to Egypt Maurizio Massari as part of following up the death of Italian student Giulio Regeni.
During the meeting, Seif el Deen extended deep condolences to the Italian ambassador, the government and the family of the student, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
He also assured the Italian ambassador that Egypt will cooperate fully with Italy in revealing the causes behind the death of the Italian student, added the spokesman.
The assistant foreign minister also underlined the close and distinguished ties binding Egypt and Italy, he added.
Regeni, 28, disappeared on the evening of January 25, after leaving his home in Giza to meet a friend.
His body was found on a road on Cairo's western outskirts on Wednesday.
