Australian Ambassador here Neil Hawkins on Tuesday hailed the achievements of the electricity and energy sector in Egypt within a short time frame to overcome challenges.
The ambassador's statements came during a meeting with Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker and representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs and international cooperation to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
The minister asserted that the meeting is part of efforts to promote cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of the new and renewable energies, calling on Australian companies to invest in Egypt.
Minister Shaker reviewed during the meeting the challenges the electricity sector faced over the past years in Egypt during which it used natural gas and mazot.
He pointed out that the ministry is planning to diversify energy sources through the use of wind, sun, gas, coal, nuclear energy and oil.
