Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa met Tuesday with Sheikh Abdullah bin Beih, the chairman of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies.
Gomaa, in statements after the meeting, said he is very optimistic about cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf and the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies.
Both sides will be working together to enhance intercultural dialogue and achieve world peace and security based on the concept of equal citizenship, Gomaa said on the sidelines of a conference on religious minorities in Muslim countries in Marrakesh.
It has also been agreed that the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf and the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies will act to correct wrong concepts about Islam and Muslims, the minister added.
Th two sides will stress the fact that extremist groups have nothing to do with Islam and are only a political creation, he noted.
