
The Egyptian people and leadership are keen on maintaining the unity and sovereignty of Iraq, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said on Wednesday.
During a meeting with visiting Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari, Ismail praised efforts exerted by the Iraqi government to eradicate terrorism in the country.
He also lauded distinguished relations between Egypt and Iraq in the economic and political fields.
Ismail said the Egyptian government is currently making a number of legislative amendments to attract local and foreign investments into the country.
The Egyptian companies seek to participate in projects to reconstruct Iraq, he noted.
Jaafari, for his part, offered condolences to Egypt's people over the death of scores in the terrorist attack which rocked the Boutroseya church in the Cairo district of Abbasiya last week.
He stressed the importance of coordinating efforts to eradicate terrorism and extremist thoughts.
Jaafari spoke of the Iraqi government's efforts to handle difficult economic situations in Iraq.
