Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met Saturday with Singaporean Minister of Defense Ng Eng Hen and discussed bilateral relations and regional and international developments.
The meeting was held on the fringe of the 12th Manama Dialogue Forum, currently taking place in the Bahraini capital, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
The Singaporean minister voiced appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's initiative to renew the religious discourse, Abu Zeid said.
Ng also hailed as "pivotal" the role played by Egypt's Al Azhar in this regard, the spokesman added.
Ng told Shoukry his country greatly values Egypt's efforts to fight terrorism and extremism at the international level, he further said.
For his part, Shoukry said Egypt is keen on boosting ties with Singapore and on continuing its fight against terrorism, Abu Zeid added.
