
Egypt's assistant foreign minister for Arab affairs Tarek el Qony met on Wednesday with German assistant foreign minister for Middle East affairs Philipp Ackermann on the latest developments in Libya and ways to settle the crisis there along with counter-terror efforts.
The German diplomat hailed Cairo's efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis and its effective participation at the regional and international levels.
He asserted that there was no alternative for the Egyptian pivotal role. He also stressed that bringing about stability in Libya would be in the interest of the whole region including Europe.
The Egyptian diplomat, for his part, underlined the importance of forming a national accord government in Libya by the presidential council. He stressed that Cairo would maintain contacts with all Libyan parties to implement a national agreement signed by the Libyan parties.
The two diplomats agreed on the necessity of continuing consultation between Egypt and Germany on the Libyan crisis.
