
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received at his residence in Beirut Lebanese Industry Minister Husayn al Hajj Hassan, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Wednesday.
At the beginning of the meeting, Shoukry congratulated Hassan for electing Michel Aoun as the new Lebanese President, Abu Zeid added.
Shoukry asserted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi handed him a message congratulating the Lebanese government and people on the election of Michel Aoun as the new Lebanese Leader.
For his part, the Lebanese minister praised the great role played by Egypt to settle the political dispute that overshadowed the Lebanese political life for years.
The two ministers’ talks touched on ways of boosting bilateral cooperation, Abu Zeid said, affirming that Egypt was looking forward to stepping up cooperation with Lebanon in the fields of industry and trade.
The Egyptian top-diplomat is expected to convene with a host of Lebanese investors and businessmen at the headquarters of the Egyptian ambassador in Beirut to review means of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, according to Abu Zeid.
Meanwhile, Shoukry and Hassan also reviewed the challenges facing the Arab world and ways to overcome them, Abu Zeid noted.
