Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has asserted Egypt's readiness to continue coordination with the European Union for reaching a clear vision on cooperation to contribute to boosting security and stability in the region and achieving the interests of Egypt and Europe alike.
The minister's statements came during a meeting on Monday with EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos who arrived in Cairo Sunday night.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Nabila Makram Ebeid.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry posted the European official on the role played by Egypt to confront illegal migration, pointing out to Egypt's commitment to the UN refugee agreement.
The European official praised Egypt's role in the region as a key player for defeating terrorism, said Abu Zeid, calling for confronting illegal migration, extremism and organized crime.
