
Foreign Ministry Sameh Shoukry received on Monday former Malian president and AU High Representative for South Sudan Alpha Oumar Konaré, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
In statements, Abu Zeid said the meeting tackled Konaré's mission to follow up the implementation of the peace deal signed between Salva Kiir Mayardit and Riek Machar.
During the meeting, the top diplomat asserted Egypt's full support to Konaré's efforts that aims to support stability and peace in South Sudan.
The minister also pointed out at Egypt's crucial role in supporting efforts of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to reach the peace deal.
He also asserted that Egypt supports South Sudan's people to enable them in facing various challenges and rebuilding their country and achieving their aspirations.
