
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, FNC, has met separately in Abu Dhabi, with Jennifer Geerlings-Simmons, Speaker of the National Assembly of Suriname, and Margret Mensah-Williams, Chairperson of the National Council of Namibia.
The meetings, which were held at the FNC's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, touched on means of boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially activating cooperation and parliamentary relations between the Federal National Council and Parliamentary Councils of Suriname and Namibia.
During the meetings, the parties also stressed the importance of parliamentary visits, exchange of experiences and enhancing coordination and consultation on various issues of common interest between the UAE and their respective countries, and reviewed the outcome of the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, GSWS, which was held in Abu Dhabi on 12th and 13th December.
Discussions also dealt with many relevant parliamentary issues as well as the role of women in the political process and the challenges that women may face in their careers.
Dr. Al Qubaisi provided an overview of the developments achieved by the UAE in the areas of women's empowerment as well as the important role played by UAE women in various aspects of public and private work in the state.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Qubaisi signed separate cooperation agreements with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Suriname and the Chairperson of the National Council of Namibia.
The agreements aim to strengthen consultation and coordination on various issues of common interest as well as boost cooperation in the fields of sustainable development, foreseeing future issues, innovation and the exchange of knowledge and diplomatic experiences.
