
HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met here Sunday with New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, especially in the field of economy and investment. They also exchanged views on a number of regional issues of mutual interest.
HE the Foreign Minister expressed appreciation to New Zealand's role during its presidency of the Security Council last year to stop Israeli settlements on the Palestinian lands and its role in arguing members of the Security Council to show leadership over the crisis in Syria.
For his part, New Zealand's Foreign Minister praised Qatar's effective role and efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria and its constant support to the Palestinian cause.
He also stressed his country's desire to develop economic relations with Qatar in particular and with the GCC states in general. At the end of the meeting, the two sides signed an agreement in health and food safety fields.
