
Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi on Monday met GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest political developments in Yemen and the Yemeni-GCC ties within the framework of cooperation and integration between Yemen and GCC states, the Yemeni news agency reported.
President Hadi said the government participated in the Kuwait talks in order to stop the bloodshed and spare the Yemeni people further suffering and bloodshed, highlighting the necessity of implementing international legitimacy resolutions, including resolution 2216 as well as completing the GCC initiative and implementing the dialogue output.
He stressed the importance of building trust through maintaining the ceasefire, retreating from cities and releasing detainees from the prisons of coup militias.
For his part, Dr. Al Zayani said the meeting comes as part of coordination and consultation with the legitimate Yemeni leadership so as to enhance the chances for peace that is based on Security Council resolutions, the Gulf initiative and outputs of the national dialogue.
He reiterated the support of GCC states for Yemen and its legitimate leadership in order to achieve the peace that the Yemeni people deserve and restore a strong and effective Yemen in a way that accomplishes integration and cooperation with the Gulf and Arab regions.
