Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will lead an official delegation to Ghana next week, said a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on Tuesday.
During the visit, Zarif will hold bilateral meeting with his Ghanaian counterpart Hanna Serwaah Tetteh followed by a joint press briefing.
The visit comes five months after president John Dramani Mahama visited Iran at the invitation of Iranian president Hassan Rouhani where the two leaders agreed to closely collaborate in the fight against extremism and terrorism.
Ghana and Iran have a long standing relationship as members of the Non-Aligned Movement.
In 2014, during a visit to Ghana by former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the two countries established a Permanent Joint Commission.
