
Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al Jabouri and Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani discussed Sunday ways of cooperation among region's countries to maintain peace and security and face challenges.
Jabouri called upon all the countries to cooperate with Iraq to generate a long-term state of stability based on the principle of coordination, information exchange and respect for sovereignty.
The Iraqi parliament speaker also met chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
They discussed bilateral relations and the importance of mutual cooperation to create an atmosphere conducive to good-neighborly relations based on mutual respect.
Members of Iraqi parliamentary delegation accompanying Jabouri attended the meeting.
Jabouri is to leave here later in the day after a two-day visit. He plans to visit Turkey to discuss cooperation in fighting terror and extremism in Iraq and the region as well as the liberation of Mosul from the grip of the terrorist Daesh group.
