
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Ati received Tuesday Japan's ambassador in Cairo Takehiro Kagawa and his accompanying delegation in the presence of the ministry's senior offcials.
The ambassador said he is keen on rationalizing water, pointing out that the Japanese side is working to save 30 percent of used water through the most up-to-date technology.
He said a Japanese expert will visit Egypt in July or August to meet Egyptian officials on means on rationalizing water. Minister Abdel Ati welcomed the expert's visit to Egypt.
The Japanese diplomat said the sixth Africa-Japan summit, which will be held in the Kenyan capital Nairobi in August, will be an apportunity for holding a meeting between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Japanese prime minister on cooperation between the two countries especially in the fields of water and agriculture.
He said 250 top-notch students will be delegated to Japan to receive PhD and master degrees during the coming five years, praising the role of the Japanese university in Egypt which sends distinguished studnets to Japan.
For his part, minister Abdel Ati welcomed cooperation with Japan to face the challenges Egypt has been facing, expressing Egyp's keeness on making use of Japan's technology for rationalizing water.
