
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani met Dutch Defense Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, currently on a visit to Iraq.
The meeting discussed developments in Kurdistan, particularly in relation to security operations against Daesh group in the country.
Barzani said in a statement that the threat of terrorism remains although the region is largely freed and the direct threats were dealt with.
For her part, the Dutch minister reiterated her country's backing for Kurdistan region and Peshmerga fighters, noting that Daesh is a threat to global security not only Kurdistan ad Iraq.
She had met on Wednesday with Iraqi Chief of Staff Babikir Zebari and discussed the Netherlands' support for the Iraqi army under the umbrella of the international coalition against Daesh.
