International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr met Wednesday with visiting Latvian Transport Minister Uldis Augulis to discuss an offer by a Latvian bank to fund a project to import and manufacture 700 railway wagons.
Nasr said her Ministry is the go-to body where funding the project is concerned.
She insisted on maximizing the use of local components in the project.
Nasr expected to receive all financial offers to settle on what best meets the needs of the Egyptian people.
Augulis said the project will be implemented in cooperation with military production factories, adding that a number of Egyptian engineers and technicians will receive training in Latvia to be able to use advanced technology in the manufacture of wagons.
Augulis added that his country is willing to cooperate with Egypt - a country of strategic importance in Africa - in the different fields.
