Lebanese Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil met Thursday with US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon and his accompanying delegation who are on a two-day official visit to Lebanon.
The two sides discussed issues of common interest and exchanged points of view pertaining to the many challenges facing Lebanon including the terrorist threats, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.
For his part, Shannon said that the aim of the visit is to enhance the Lebanese-US partnership, pointing out that his country and the international community will continue providing long-term support to the Arab country.
He further underlined that the US can not offer solutions to the Lebanese internal issues such as the political vacuum which should be solved by the Lebanese state institutions and people.
