
President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul received, in the presence of members of the Board of Commissioners, a Swiss delegation led by Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)’s Regional Programme for the Middle East Pascal Raess.
They discussed cooperation in the human rights field, especially regarding issues pertaining to the expatriate labour force and the role of the institution in dealing with them.
Member of the Board of Commissioners Dr. Abdulrahman Jawaheri gave an account on the mechanism of receiving complaints at NIHR and ways of dealing with them.
The Swiss official hailed the role of NIHR in handling the issues related to the expatriate workforce, commending the efforts made to boost human rights in Bahrain.
Both sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding soon.
