
President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo met Wednesday with HE Advisor at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar's candidate for the director general post at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari.
Qatar's candidate conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the President of Ghana. His Excellency also conveyed to the president HH the Emir's wishes of further progress and development for the Ghanaian people. For his part, the President of Ghana also conveyed his greetings to HH the Emir and wished the Qatari people further development and prosperity. He also thanked HH the Emir for participating in Ghana's presidential inauguration, adding that it reflected the strength of bilateral ties.
The president also welcomed the Qatari candidate, stressing Ghana's commitment to UNESCO. He also called on the international community to elect a director-general capable of meeting the goals of the organization.
For his part, Al Kuwari discussed his vision for UNESCO, which is under the theme of "Towards a New Start for UNESCO." His Excellency then thanked the President for providing the opportunity to present the program. For his part, the President of Ghana wished the Qatari candidate success and added that Ghana intends to cooperate with HE Al Kuwari in the future.
