The US Secretary of Defense James Mattis has proposed to open a channel of communication with South Korean Defense Minister Han Min-Koo to keep a close contact between the two countries, a military source said on Sunday.
Mattis emphasized during his meeting with Minister Han Min-Koo on the trustworthiness of the alliance between the US and South Korea and called for strengthening the relationship through daily communication between the two ministries of defense.
Mattis stated that he instructed officials in the Pentagon to work closely with the South Korean Ministry of Defense. He also added that the United States is committed to protecting South Korea.
Minister Han agreed with his American counterpart's proposal and hoped that there will be a transparent dialogue between him and Secretary Mattis.
