Syria UN-mediated talks kick off in Geneva

Syria peace talks kicked off here earlier on Friday.
UN Special envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura held a meeting with the Syrian government's delegation, which is headed by the country's ambassador to the UN Bashar Ja'afari.
A joint press conference between de Mistura and Ja'afari is expected to be held after the meeting.
