
Tunisian Interior Minister Hedi Majdoub met on Tuesday with his Italian counterpart, Marco Minniti, currently on a visit to Tunisia.
Speaking after the meeting, the Tunisian minister said the fight against terrorism and illegal immigration are at the forefront of priorities for the two countries and must be handled through strategic international cooperation, the official Tunisian news agency TAP reported.
Majdoub stressed the need to beef up vigilance at the borders, particularly the maritime border with Italy to prevent any terrorist threat and illegal migration attempt, highlighting the importance of intelligence exchange and logistical support in order to boost efficiency.
The Tunisian minister also stressed the need to strengthen consultations between the two countries at all levels.
